THE KYOTO DISTILLERY WINS CRAFT DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR
Kyoto, Japan, 22nd February 2018 – The Kyoto Distillery has begun the new year with a ground-breaking win at the annual Icons of Gin awards. Japan’s first dedicated gin distillery, which only began production in August 2016, has been named ‘Craft Distillery of the Year’.
Announced in a ceremony held last night in London, the Icons of Gin awards, organised by Gin Magazine, celebrate the people, products and places that make the gin category so dynamic and exciting.
David Croll, founding partner of The Kyoto Distillery comments: “We have a strong devotion to producing gins of the highest quality – the passion that goes into every bottle is there for all to see and taste. Receiving this prestigious award two years after the launch of our first gin is a wonderful testament to the hard work of our very dedicated team.”
The Kyoto Distillery, recently awarded the IWSC Trophy for International Gin Producer of the Year, released its flagship gin, KI NO BI, in Japan in October 2016. The distillery is all about local collaboration: the bottle, design, packaging and constituent elements – the Fushimi water and the (predominantly) indigenous botanicals – are down to relationships with local farmers and craftsmen. The gin is produced through an intricate and laborious process that captures the team’s obsession with making the best gin possible.
It is this fine attention to detail that has led to the recognition and continued success of The Kyoto Distillery at the world’s leading spirits competitions.
