KI NO BI WINS IWSC GIN TROPHY
Kyoto, Japan, 24th July 2018 – KI NO BI Kyoto Dry Gin has been awarded one of the highest honours at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2018 – The Contemporary Gin Trophy.
The Kyoto Distillery’s successful year shows no sign of stopping as their portfolio of premium gins has scooped a plethora of medals at this year’s awards. KI NO BI led the way with a coveted Gold Outstanding, KI NO TEA won Silver and KI NO BI NAVY was awarded Silver and won Gold in the Gin & Tonic category.
Having been identified by the IWSR, as the most popular gin brand (premium and above category) in Japan, in both volume and value during 2017, The Kyoto Distillery has had an enviable first 18-months since its domestic launch.
KI NO BI’s extraordinary achievements come hot on the heels of being awarded a Master at this year’s Spirits Master. The continued success of the Kyoto Distillery at the world’s leading spirits competitions and its ability to compete with some of the largest names in the drinks industry further highlights its incredible accomplishments.
David Croll, founding partner of The Kyoto Distillery, states “A trophy win is an astonishing testament, not just to the hard work of the distilling team, but also to the people of Kyoto who have welcomed us, support us and provided us with the most amazing ingredients from which to create KI NO BI.”
Marcin Miller, Croll’s business partner, adds “Since launching, KI NO BI has built up a huge reputation – its sought out and admired – and now the trophy is true affirmation of this. It’s a highly notable accolade for our gin, which has only been available in market for less than two years.”
Made in a recognisable dry style with a distinct Japanese accent, KI NO BI (‘The Beauty of the Seasons’) is inspired by tradition and distilled, blended and bottled in Kyoto. The distillery was founded by industry veterans Marcin Miller and David Croll in 2015 with the sole intention of creating the finest gin possible with a focus on Japanese botanicals.
